Although it is well ventilated with mesh under the arms almost to elbows and almost to the waist. Despite this, if you sweat a lot, the material clings to your wet skin as it doesn't wick and evaporate as well as other jackets like Marmot's "driclime" . This jacket is literally paper thin (even thinner than his other fall weather running jackets). Any jacket can be a "winter running" jacket if you wear 4 layers underneath it. It is apparently water and windproof, which is good, but I certainly don't view it as a winter jacket. I have 2 running jackets for cold weather where, due to the design, I only need to wear one layer underneath and I'm good to go in 10 degrees. I wouldn't wear this under 40 degrees.
