"Plugged in, not charging" was the original problem that went away by uninstalling the battery and AC adapter drivers. After a few months of repeatedly uninstalling the drivers it didn't recognize the power adapter. Bought a new adapter. Didn't recognize that one either, so I bought this replacement jack. After disassembling the whole laptop just to replace this little jack it still didn't recognize either adapter and won't charge the battery. Found out that Windows 10 updates sabotaged my OS and cannot be fixed since it also deleted all restore points. I asked for Windows 8 to be installed, but along with screwing up my initial order, someone from India tried credit card fraud, so I had to wait for a new card, spent over 4 hours reordering, and I got a bloatware laptop with Windows 10. And now it's completely worthless, since it won't operate properly, except on the battery that I cannot charge. Dell tech support sucks - after finally getting someone I could understand I was told the only thing left to do was to reinstall the OS. $$$$ ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Replacement *by G***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2020* The Geek Squad turned me away and told me I'd have to send my five-year old laptop to Dell for repair because the damaged power port/jack would require soldering a new one to the motherboard. Thanks to Bay's replacement jack and cable harness and to a DIY video on YouTube, however, I was able to repair my favorite laptop myself, a good thing because all of the computer repair shops in my area are too busy fixing broken screens on smart phones. It took me several hours--the $80 professional installation sounds like a fantastic deal--but now my laptop is as good as new. I'm very happy the Bay replacement part, which is identical in every way with the original Dell part, was available to fix the one glaring design flaw on my Dell Inspiron.
