**Q: Does the camera need activating via my phone to be able to work? Saw a review saying it requires some permissions (e.g.: access to your contacts).**
A: Yes, you activate the camera with the app

**Q: Does the Stand Alone kit come with a battery and charger?**
A: The standalone kit comes with a single battery and no charger, but you can charge the battery whist in the camera with the USB lead. When I bought the standalone kit, I also separately bought 2 spare batteries and the separate charger which enables you to charge up to 3 batteries, well, you can load it with 3 batteries at the same time, but it actually charges them one at a time, automatically starting to charge the 2nd battery when the first one is fully charged.

The camera is great, by the way!

**Q: Is this waterproof when swimming? I do not mean deep diving, normal swimming in a pool.**
A: Yes it is good just don’t go past 10 feet. We let our kids swim in the pool with it all the time.

**Q: Does a battery come with the standalone version? The spec states no battery and 1 is required. Thanks.**

I’ve been using the Insta360 X3 for a while now, and it’s genuinely impressed me. The 360° capture is brilliant — you can point it anywhere (or nowhere!) and still reframe the shot afterwards. Stabilisation is rock‑solid, even when you’re moving quickly, and the invisible selfie stick effect makes the footage look really polished. Very happy with purchase and the bundle it came with. Lots of learning to do to learn how to get the best out of it but so far, I’ve found it fairly user friendly and there’s good YouTube tutorials to help you learn. My only gripe, and the fault is totally mine as a complete novice, is that it’s a bit heavy to have clipped on rucksack strap or worn on the head. For what I wanted it for, I probably should’ve researched a smaller option but the camera itself and how user friendly it is is very good.
