I thought the glass was a little thin but it hasn't broken yet and I am like a barbarian in the kitchen. If you are just starting out, this and a good hand grinder is all you need. I fill the stainless strainer with coarsely ground coffee an inch from the top, fill it with water and toss it in the fridge for at least 24 hours. I have left it in the fridge for 3-4 days with the grounds in on accident and it was still good, but a tad bitter. Make sure to grind your coffee beans for drip, not espresso cause the smaller the grind, the more it slips thru filter & into your coffee. I also use mine when I buy concentrated bottles of cold brew bc it's measurement marks go from top to bottom & that makes filling it correctly very easy.Would definitely recommend.
