I am looking to purchase this pattern, but i cant fully determin the size. i am a uk size 18 / 20 will this pattern meet my needs?

Yes if you adapt it. You need to take your measurements and then compare them with those on the pattern. Make a toile and then alter the pattern according to the fit of the toile. I had to adapt this pattern at the neck, shoulders and waist. I go to classes to help me get more proficient with fitting.

I'm not sure what the aa sizing stands for. i am a size 12 and take a c cup bra. do i go for the aa 11-18 pattern or the 10 - 18 one? thanks.

The pattern contains pattern pieces for all cup sizes so either of those should be fine.

What fabric would be best suited for this pattern?

Cotton or polly cotton blends. You need something with a bit of weight to it for best results. Unless you're an experienced sewing enthusiast I would avoid anything with stretch. Its way too easy to end up with a gaping neck line if you use anything with a stretch. Its a bit of a fiddly pattern but take the time to get the fit right and its lovely. I had to alter the pattern quite a lot but that's down to my weird shape rather than a bad pattern.

Is this pattern for beginners

I would not recommend it for a beginner. Putting the dress together may be straightforward but cutting out all the right pieces, in the size required, from the one pattern shape is not easy.
