It works well for him and has been durable over several months. The softer bristles are a little too soft, so they don't really get used, but it's nice to have the options. The handle is a little short, also, but not short enough to where it's really obstructive or difficult to grip - just a little awkward for larger hands. The side with thicker/hard bristles has a good thickness to it. It starts off a little tough, but softens over time. I have longer wavy hair and sometimes make use of the side with thicker bristles, also.
