We decided to tackle building our own queen-size Murphy Bed, given the high cost of buying a completed Bed. Here is my guidance...The equipment is perfect and works EXTREMELY well. What I am going to focus on are the instructions. After I purchased the kit, I received an email from the online store, which included 3 PDFs of instructions and information. Overall, they were good directions, but also, some very key parts should be included with the directions. First, paper templates for drilling would be HUGELY helpful. I know that some of the other brands do this. The first drilling you will do is for the upper piston hardware and the lower male pivot hardware. You must be exact when marking your center points for drilling the upper piston location. The lower male pivot hardware (11" up x XXX" in) does not require a center drill point. Your center is used as a base marker for the 4 holes. The bed frame plans are great, but you are not given directions on where to mount the hardware. Also, there are included in your ket "binding posts" for mounting hardware, but you are not told to use them for mounting. Suffice it to say that "pictures are worth a thousand words" in this case. Written directions would be more helpful than eyeballing from a picture. The same level of detail should be given to the folding leg positioning. Again, you must eyeball. I learned that the front hardware with the lower piston pivot should be flush with the top edge of the side boards of the bed frame. The rounded portion of the leg hardware should be flush with the top and bottom of the bed frame sideboard. Again, more detailed directions or a template would be very helpful. Finally, let's talk about attaching the gas piston. The piston should be attached early on in the build process, but you aren't told to do so. I only learned this from watching other YouTube videos from various people and companies. If you do not attach early, you will be frustrated with how difficult the piston will be to attach. Even with the unclear components of the directions, I give this product a 5-star rating. Templates would make the build so much easier. Also, another positive of the product is the customer service and communication with the seller, which was outstanding. You will experience a message lag due to the time zone differences, so be patient. All-in-all we are very satisfied. Just make sure you read the instructions 3 or 4 or 5 times. Thanks. On the left side about 18 inches from the floor we added a "power grommet" from desertcart which provides two 110v and three USB outlets. When I first began on this project I was disappointed in the lack of detailed instructions that came with this purchase. However, several reviews commented on the quick response of customer service. I sent an email and it was replied to the same evening with very helpful information and more informative .pdf files. Later I noticed that the machining on one pair of items was incorrect. Again I communicated with Customer Support and they immediately expedited two new parts from China along with a redone and very comprehensive installation manual. The manual contains not only assembly instructions but how to cut each sheet of plywood to get best usage from it. It is very detailed and well illustrated. In summary, while there were some minor problems initially with the purchase their customer service is truly a model for others to follow. I would give them six stars if I could! I would not hesitate purchasing from them again. The solution was: Slightly adjust the mounting position according to the actual installation, like move the original holes down 1/2", and adjust the mounting position of the male pivot and upper stud plates. Solution two: The lower plate isn't flush with the boards and adjust the size of the upper stud plate to ensure that the pistons can work properly so that the bed frame will fit into the bed cabinet correctly. Install the lower plate first, then install the end fitting with text of PA66 of the piston onto the ball stud of the lower plate and position the upper stud plate accordingly. We start our preliminary planning and realized the instructions were missing many dimensions and were completely wrong in places. The pictures sometimes didn't even match the description. The last complaint is the gas struts are way more powerful than they need to be. Even with the through bolt mounting the struts had so much power that the pushed the through bolts sideways into the wood.
