His paws were swollen and bright red, the loss of hair started on one knuckle and spread to others then his legs. I soak his paws in Epson salt for 10 minutes each night after his last out side time, this helps bring down the swelling. Twice a day, I use a teaspoon of John Paul Tea Tree shampoo in a gallon of warmed spring water and use a cloth rag to wash his legs down to his paws. Also, I use a Q-tip to wash between his toes. I use paw paw to soften his pads then I apply an fungus foot ointment to his pink bald skin. Doing this twice a day and having him wear shoes has worked wonders. The hair is growing back and the skin is turning white again. This has been a 4 week process and it is still going. I agree and disagree with the other commenter. Yes, Tea Tree oil is poisonous to dogs and as a 100% pure ointment they recommend not to use it on small dogs. But if you read the details and understand that John Paul only uses a small percentage and this is diluted with other ingredients at which, makes this shampoo non-toxic for dogs and cats. But as rule of thumb, no dog should be licking it or the rinse water when being bathed. The package says: "We've formulated non-toxic Tea Tree Shampoo and Tea Tree Conditioning Spray to meet the higher pH balance requirements of pets." I've been using this on my dog and there is not blacken of the skin, he just had his blood test and he is healthy at this age of 6. I strongly believe this product will not harm your pets but to help heal your pets yeast and fungal problems....it's has help my pet.. Tea tree oil is known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties, and possibly for its antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, and antiparasitic effects. Tea tree oil is often found in varying concentrations and should never be used on pets. As little as 7 drops of 100% oil has resulted in severe poisoning, and applications of 10-20 mls of 100% oil have resulted in poisoning and death in both dogs and cats. Needless to say, I have requested a full refund! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review *by J***J on 8 February 2014* My mixed-breed dog (Beagle and Terrier) tends to have dry skin so it has been a challenge finding products that not only soothe her skin but take away the hound dog smell as well. She gets stinky so fast! The tea tree oil seems soothing to her and limits the topical flea/tick treatments that I would typically need to administer.
