Each of the 2 computers are connected to the KVM unit by a supplied USB cable (Qty 2). At any one time, either computer will have complete active control of the KVM’s 4 USB 3.0 ports or the computer has to wait until a button is pushed on the KVM unit to switch all 4 USB ports over to it. It’s that simple.The KVM switch is a “Plug and Play” type device with little need for any documentation…. almost….. The unit comes with a USB power cable, but no power adapter is provided to run power through the power cable. There is no instruction manual included to specify the type of USB power supply that should be used. However, the Amazon listing states “(NOTE: it is not recommended to use a charger with higher voltage output than 5V2A, it may affect the performance of the product) ”.The buyer is left to select a USB power supply that meets the web page’s specifications. Many, but not all, people have spare USB power supplies and the output voltage and amps are usually listed on the USB power supply.
