Great wet terrain hiking shoes!
Love these Merrell's. They are durable and comfortable and do their job exactly as they are supposed to. I have worn them to climb around on rocks at the beach, on the boat/dock fishing, and kayaking. I've even hiked the Narrows at Zion in these, which is a rock bed river canyon. The soles have great grip and I never felt like I was slipping or sliding around. The heals and toes are enclosed to better guard against scrapes and stubbs. The water drains out easily and the materials are definitely waterproof and dry out pretty quick. The only odd thing about them is that they seem to run a bit large. Fortunately for me, a friend advised me of this and so I ordered a size smaller than I normally would. If you do the same, I know you will be happy with the Choprock Shandals.

Relief from foot cramps at night
It’s still a little early but I have to give these shoes thumbs up. I’ve been wearing a different well-known brand of sandals for a number of years for everyday summer wear. Decades ago I discovered the comfort of Merrell Jungle Mocs after long international flights and since then they have been my favorite go-to casual shoe because of the comfort and arch support. With my other brand sandals I noticed recently that the Metatarsal area of my foot felt stressed and I was getting cramps in this area at night. So I decided to try the Merrell Choprock because of the arch support. Since wearing them I haven’t had any more foot cramps. The Merrells are characterized as water / hiking sandal but so far they’ve been great for everyday wear.

Great for Hiking!
I loved that these were comfortable and cushioned just the right amount. Not too little, not too much. I like that when hiking and backpacking with these on, you can tackle water crossings quickly by not changing into water shoes, sandals, or thongs because these have great drainage. If you are worried about sticks and ricks, I didn't really have that problem, and when it got coller, I just put on some wool socks. They're lightweight when compared to regular hiking/backpacking footwear. I weighed them once, but forgot, however I do recall them not weighing very much at all. Hope you find them as useful as I did.

Very Comfortable
I bought these for my boyfriend and he loves the fit. He says they are supportive in the arch, which is difficult to find in a water shoe. They look great, too.

Caution before purchasing
Would love to say these were amazing but... they do run a bit large which was not a deal breaker, the seam at the inside of the shoe at the rear of the wheel rubs the skin raw. Probably can't return them now.

Good water shoes, but a little like cleats
For a long time, I had used Merrell Sieve water shoes which I really liked. However, when my old pair wore out, I could not find a new pair in my size, so I ended up getting these water shoes, which I generally like, though I don't know that I like them as much as the Sieves. The first thing I noticed was that the tread is almost like cleats. I'm guessing this helps with traction, but it was still a little unusual. Maybe it'll allow them to last longer than my Sieves did? The other thing that is different is that there is a sole insert which I sort of have a love-hate relationship with. Whenever I take my feet out of the shoes, the insert comes partially out (unless I wear socks, and who wears socks with sandals?). But the inserts are washable. The constant problem I have with these sort of sandals (Sieves and Keens as well) is that they develop a funk over time. These removable inserts can be cleaned, which help with that. Will I get Sieves or these whenever these wear out? Maybe the Sieves. Not really sure. I don't dislike these, but I also am not in love with them either. Overall, they're good shoes.

Als Wanderschuhe super. Gute Bodenhaftung. Gute Federung. Nur die Sohle könnte atmungsaktiver sein. Die Füße werden ziemlich warm.

I ditched "waterproof" shoes long ago. When it is raining heavily I much prefer to go for a water shoe as at least the water gets OUT. These are perfect because they have a more aggressive grip that is great when you are hiking. The only downside is that debris can get into the shoe quite easily.

Schade!
