I thought the battery was low but a new battery did not fix it. I tried several times but I couldn't get it to calibrate. I contacted the company and they told me the secret to calibrating it. So now it works great. I'll include the email instructions that I got from the company which worked perfectly the first time I tried it. So here are the "complete" instruction on how to calibrate this thermometer:The meat thermometer displays "ERR" if the ice water isn't the standard 0℃.You can pour water into a cup, then put the cup into the freezer, you can take it out to calibrate after half an hour. At this time This cup of water should be the standard 0℃.I sincerely suggest you can recalibrate it again.Please following the steps:1.Open the probe and it will display the Fahrenheit temperature, then change it to Celsius temperature by pressing "ºC/ºF" button.2.Please be sure to calibrate in the mixture of 50%ice and 50%water.(This mixture should be the standard 0℃) Insert the probe into mixture, then display the digit(The digit should be between 0ºC-1ºC) press and hold the “CAL” key until the display will flash “CALL” on the screen.Releasing "CAL" button, after the display flash "CALL" several seconds it will flash the digit. In time using the “HOLD” key to decrease the digit or the "ºC/ºF" key to increase the digit until it shows 0℃. After several seconds the display will show again the reading.3.Notice:The accuracy of thermometer is ±1℃. Not just for meat.Replacement battery is a CR2032H.
