I have found my Sumatra
This is really good coffee. Perhaps not quite as dark as some prefer, this is still plenty dark. Has a rich, almost thick flavor and aroma. No detectable bitterness, low acid; all the attributes they talk about. Almost zero fines after grinding and just the tiniest bit of cup sludge. Yeah, I like it. Enough to write a review. Now, if now you'll permit me some heresy: Hand grind (1ZPresso Q) 14 grams of beans such that they'll fit into a My Keurig filter for Keurig Supreme brewers, which is a fairly fine grind. 10 oz. Yumm.

Great coffee
Decided when price of my usual ‘L’ beans suddenly spiked. No regrets, in fact, a pleasant discovery. Coffee isn’t bitter nor acidic (my view, of course) and compares well with ‘Sb’. Nice drink.

Really great coffee
I’ve been buying Kirkland Colombian for years since it’s the best bag of beans I can find in Australia. However, they ran out or stopped selling it. This Copper Moon Sumatra is a superior replacement but quite a bit more expensive. It’s stronger but not more bitter or sour so very happy with it.

Over roasted coffee
I bought a pack of “Sumatra” coffee, but this is not at all the coffee I drank before from Indonesia, the beans are heavily overroasted and this makes the coffee taste a bitter. Do not like it.

Good Coffee! More Medium than dark. Smooth, full bodied, rich. How you grind will affect taste.
#1- This IS good coffee. Nothing wrong with it. Smooth, Flavorful, rich. IF you brew correctly.#2- It's not as dark of a roast as we usually have ie Safeway 32oz Sumatran Whole bean.(Which is very good and all we've been drinking for years)Prior to that I drank Santa Cruz roasting company Sumatran.#3- The flavor isn't as strong, but with a little tweaking on the grinder we have it to where it's quite good.#4- Sumatran coffee is ALL I've drank for years on end after trying every other type of coffee on the planet. It's low in acid and doesn't tear up your stomach and perfectly fine to drink on an empty stomach which is the 1st thing I do every morning.#5- Your coffee grinder makes a HUGE difference in the taste of your coffee and you need to make adjustments for every new coffee. For years I had a Krupp’s cheap grinder but the results were always inconsistent. When I made the coffee it tasted one way, when the wife made it, it tasted different. In both cases sometimes it tasted like dirt or was weak. So highly recommend the OXO Burr grinder, which we bought from Amazon. Without a grinder that provides consistent results, how can you possibly rate your coffee?OK, now to info about the Copper moon.Upon opening the package, it didn't smell great. Didn't have the “you can smell it from 10 ft away aroma.” Also immediately noticed the beans were brown, not more towards black like a typical "Dark:" roast. I would rate this as a medium roast. We both thought it was perhaps old, but checked the "Sell By" date and it was a year off. So no.1st pot we made was weak using the grinder settings from the Safeway Sumatran,.So tweaked until yes, it is now a flavorful, full bodied, smooth, slightly lighter tasting coffee. This coffee is less bitter than the other Sumatran’s we’ve had owing to its lighter roast. We only make '8' cups at a time ie 2 cups in our Yeti travel cups. Fresh coffee is better but this also holds up well even after sitting an hour.Final analysis. - If you have a OXO grinder set the grind to ‘4’ and 25 seconds with 8 cups water toyour drip coffee maker. BTW- Hamilton Beech was rated highly in consumers reports because it heats the water hotter than most and this is another key thing. That’s what we have. So water temp is another factor that affects the taste of your coffee. Hotter is better. In conclusion. -Would I buy this again? Yes. But I think I might keep it as an alternative to our usual coffee when we feel like a change and something lighter.
