I bought alot of 18x18 pillow covers to update my sofas because I couldn't get a full set from Ross or TJ Maxx. They are vacuum sealed until they're about an inch tall, but as soon as you open the individual plastic packaging, it starts to get fluffy and fill out. I threw these and the pillow covers into the dryer to fluff them up. They fluffed up tremendously and filled out the covers adequately. They don't have a strong chemical smell that will burn your nose. In fact, it's barely noticeable to me, but just for good measure, I threw a dryer sheet in to mask any kind of smell. I've already bought 2 sets and plan on buying more. My family loves these pillows and say they're soft and comfy.Did my review help you? I would not use them for a pillow that was being smashed under someone's head or back, they seem best as inserts for decorative covers. I got them to fill some Halloween pillow covers, and will take them out and use them at Christmastime. No, they are not super full, but I got the 20" size and they worked well for my 18" covers. If they were any fuller, I would have had a hard time stuffing them in!
