Brilliant
This review is fir the JOIE single egg microwave boiler. Took some confidence to use the egg piercer but with that achieved, it's the best gadget I've bought in ages. A 3-minute prefect soft boiled egg with no fuss.

Easy way to a fast breakfast
Handy egg cooker for the microwave with no having to set timers and boiling a whole saucepan of water for one egg. If you prefer a harder egg, I would suggest using a medium sized egg as this size cooks perfectly, large eggs, from my own experience, only cook soft as the water is used up before they set harder. You could always refill the water and give it a few extra minutes, however. Looks cute sitting on top of the microwave.

If you already have the poaching thing then this would be a good second option for eggs in the morning
It's really good but tricky to judge timing initially. 5 mins should be your benchmark and then up or down by 30 second increments. It's hot when it comes out of the microwave. Not sure why so many people are surprised by this but you need to let it sit for a minute or two anyway to let the egg finish cooking through. Little or no clean up required. Buy a proper egg piercer and for salads and sandwiches one of those wire slicing things. Serving suggestion: Boliey egg (5 min), leave to stand, turkey rashers (2.30 min ish), bun = perfect breakfast.

Rather hit & miss results.
Over the years I've bought several of these, to cook my breakfast eggs. [It's too dangerous for me to use a hob, limited movement]. I've tried the poachers, they're useless. Alas, I have found them a bit hit & miss. Two at the same time, each egg often turn-out differently, over/under cooked. Occasionally, despite having [properly] pricked the eggs, they've exploded. Not sure if I can mention [this], but, I've found the perfect solution, a 2 egg omelette maker.

Don't waste your money
Probably the worst egg boiler ever...and reads like it can explode if you don't follow the instructions explicitly...and when you do it barely cooks the egg. I can't even be bothered to walk to the shops to post it back...it's gone straight in the bin; together with the very undercooked egg (even though we set it for hard boiled).

Not the best!
Like many other gadgets I've had recently the two plastic parts don't locate properly when you try to close them. This is almost universal nowadays with this type of cheaper plastic item. Not the main complaint however. It just didn't boil eggs further than soft and runny , including the whites. The instructions specified 3.5 minutes for medium eggs on 1000 watts. Ok I had large size eggs and 800watt microwave. So I set it to 5 minutes : soft and runny including the whites. 6 minutes : soft and runny including the whites. 7 minutes : soft and runny including the whites. So it's obviously not going to boil a large egg properly on 800 Watt microwave. I won't waste any more eggs on this, as there is absolutely no improvement with increases in time. The manufacturer needs to specify better the capabilities of their product. A table of egg size v power v time would be useful. Also if it is no use on any less than 1000 watts say so. Update: I wrote the above but hadn't submitted it before I saw that another reviewer said to use hot water. So I retrieved the boiler from the bin. A further series of experiments resulted in the following findings for my large size eggs in my 800 watt microwave: 1. Don't use eggs from the fridge -room temperature only. 2. Use hot water. I use water from the boiling water tap. 3. It takes much longer than 3.5 minutes I found at 6 minutes the yolk and white were runny 7 minutes the egg was hard boiled 6m 30s yolk was slightly runny white was solid. So many variables!! Is it worth the bother, and wastage of eggs? Since I managed to eventually get an eatable boiled egg. I added a star. I now give it 2*.

OK so I've only tried this once so far, but my egg came out perfectly and I don't foresee anything changing in the future. I'm not exactly sure what the wattage of my microwave is, but it's either 1000 or close to it. I followed the directions exactly, trying for the 5 minute hard boiled egg. I used a medium egg straight from the fridge. I put Boiley in a bowl, just in case, but it turns out it was unneeded. I noticed most of the water I put in it was gone, so any longer than 5 minutes and I'd be worried about something going wrong. I left it in the microwave for a couple minutes. Took it out, set it aside for another minute or 2. Then I ran some cold water over the egg until it was cool enough to peel. It peeled beautifully. I ripped the egg open to see how well it cooked and it was perfect. The yolk was a beautiful yellow color and cooked through. And it was delicious. I used to make my hard boiled eggs in a rice cooker, which took about 20 minutes. Now I'm thinking maybe they were a bit overdone as I prefer Boiley's egg. So I'm happy to find something faster that will give me better results! Maybe someday I'll pick up a 2nd one so I can have 2 for breakfast.

Funziona veramente bene per la cottura delle uova alla coque! L'albume si solidifica e il tuorlo rimane liquido/cremoso, perfetto.

Good for work. Make sure you leave it for ten minutes to cool down. As will burn your fingers on removal from microwave.
