We describe it like learning to ride a bike and the suit may need a few wears before you can let go of your child's hands. I love them. It is very important to watch kids at all times in the pool even while wearing one. Younger toddlers can easily float with their face under water if they haven't learned to keep their head up. That being said, these are great for teaching kids to swim. I gradually remove the foam as each child begins to swim on her own. The quality is very good.
