So... it keeps the bottom of the salads colder - but not really sure it's effective for food safety beyond 2 hours. But it's cooler at the bases of the salads. They look very nice on a buffet line. Tip - crushed ice works best as chunky ice doesn't allow the stainless bowl to sit well. Overall I think they are highly overpriced. Hand wash all parts.
