Review: Rope winch puller - First I wasn’t sure about this rope winch and was bit put off by seeing other winches with large pulling strengths but were wire. But on using it a few times I have become extremely fond of it.It’s light portable and has moved everything I have attached it to. Pulling a hung up tree back and up using a block and tackle worked well and saved a lot time and dangerous cutting. It’s good value for money and with the 50ft rope option a good starting point for me moving logs on my own. My only slightly negative comment is the curved bit of metal that you press to disengage the ratchet to lessen the tension is thin and kind of hidden in the handle after pressing to disconnect you have to jam the handle hard back and your not sure if it’s disengaged. But it slackens off slowly but it does the job and am well happy with it so far. Suggest getting a strap or chain to attach the back anchor to a solid object and a block to make it even more versatile. What will Amazon do.** A: Notify Amazon, they’re good. **Q: I want to release the tension in the unit but i am not having any luck getting pawl a to release. anyone have tips? maybe a video?** A: In order to release the tension of the rope you must do the following. 1- Place your thumb on the flat spring (located on the Y of the handle) and push downward. By doing this pawl B should become disengaged from the ratchet wheel. 2- Pull the handle towards pawl A. Once pawl B contacts Pawl A both of the pawls will be disengaged from the ratchet wheel. At this time you will push the handle away from Pawl A, allowing the rope to be released. Repeat this step to release more rope. Please feel free to contact us again if you still have questions and I will arrange for an engineer to walk you through the process. **Q: Has anyone used this to pull a Jeep that might have gotten stuck?** A: No but I used it to pull a hot tub up a ramp to a 8 foot high deck. Worked great ! **Q: Will this work with high strand woven rope instead of the 3 strand?** A: It should. As long as the woven rope isn't too slippery. Once you engage the come along everything gets really tight and it should work fine. When I bought mine, I didn't pay much attention to the rope (it obviously needs to be strong as if it breaks, it would be dangerous) but the pulley that holds on to the rope is made to bite into whatever rope you are using.
