I found no problems with the hook grip. Because I have not tied any really small flies yet I am unable to say how well it would perform with small hooks.(hence 4*)Otherwise everything is good. It adusts for height and will spin the fly quite easily.For the money an excellent vice ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars excellent value for money. *by R***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 April 2018* I should, by now, have learned my lesson: buying cheaper to save some money, particularly when you are new to something rarely saves you anything in the long run. This is a good kit for fly tying and the vice is solid and reliable, unlike two others I purchased at the outset of my interest in fly tying. The vice is the key: you may be supplied with all of the other tools, as in other kits, or a nice case, as in yet another, but if the vice is not right, the process of tying fishing flies will be made more difficult. While this is not, strictly speaking, a rotating vice, it does rotate and holds the hooks firmly so that you can get on with things. It has a solid base and remains steady throughout. The tools are okay and you can always get a few tools separately, if you want better: the box it comes in is good too. If I had bought this kit, with the vice at the outset, I would have saved myself additional expenditure: a bit more expensive, but not by much, this vice, tools and box represents excellent value for money and provides a very good vice. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works a treat.
