## Description

5B - This model is meant for medium-heavy duty application such as jazz, rock, pop, etc. It's a larger stick with a thick neck, short taper, and a large acorn bead tip. Specs: length: 16.375", diameter: .595", weight: 61g.

Review: This review is more for the manufacturer, also see my review on the 5B version with nylon tips. - I would have to say that I would have preferred to test the 5BXL VERSION with nylon tips. The extra .5" makes usually makes a big difference in the fulcrum point the amount of volume or presence of attack, but in this version it lacked compared to the 5B with nylon tips. I don’t know if the weight of the nylon tips was the difference or not. The fulcrum point was between the D and the r in etched drumstick word. The rebound was not as lively, which can be the difference between the wood and nylon tip, which I have experienced before. The thing is that volume or presence of attack is much denser with the wood tip. With my hickory Tama and Zildjian sticks, the fulcrum point is further back on the stick, not more forward. Having the fulcrum point so far forward with this 16.5" stick gave it an uncomfortable feel. Compared to the 5B the 5BXL fulcrum point was almost an 1" more froward. One last thought, maybe the issue could be the shorter taper? Maybe it’s too short giving the stick too much weight forward?
