## Description

From the manufacturer Always rugged, and turly built to last. Swanson's Blue Book of rafter lengths and roof construction One of our customers posted in his review, 'hang onto that Blue Book, it's smarter than all of us.' Only 1 square gets to call itself the Speed Square Speed Squares have been in production since 1925, Proudly Made In America Today our Speed Squares are manufactured in different sizes and are made from different materials so that we address the many different needs that contractors, construction professionals and DIYers have for every job and any project. The 7inch Speed Square (S0101) The plain 7inch Speed Square (T0101) The Big 12 with Layout Bar (S0107) The plain 12inch Speed Square (T0108) The Metric Speed Square (NA202) The Speed Square Bundle (SW1201K) Our patented Speed Squres are not just for roofers. This universal tool is a must have for all jobs Protractor Set the Speed Square against your board and pivot to the angle you need: 1 to 90 degrees are clearly marked. Tri Square Any job that requires multiple (repetitive), accurate markings, such as locating studs, laying out stringers for stairs, positioning floor joists needs a speed square just for the time-saving feature alone. Cutting Guide For a clean, straight 45 or 90 degree cut, use the Speed Square as a fence to ensure your blade never moves off line. Scribing The Speed Square includes multiple notch marks so scribing is simple, and ripping stock is easy and accurate.

Review: Quality square - A fantastic square from a brand I trust. Perfectly square accurate Also works really well as a circular saw guide fence. I also have the other swanson squares and I wouldn’t want to be without them
Review: Unbeatable for framing work - This is not a replacement for an adjustable combination square and is not suitable for fine work, but for its intended use in framing work it is brilliant. The pencil notches for marking lines parallel to the edge of a board are very useful when ripping wood and the protractor feature is surprisingly usable (though again, not really for marking off 3.25 degrees!) The wide base makes this convenient for checking joints for plumb as it will stand on its own quite securely; this base also makes a really solid rest for when you want to mark a cutting line at 90 degrees - it hooks over the edge of a standard CLS 2x X timber perfectly and gives a far more positive result than a standard combination square (the full length of the side of the square being in contact with the timber really helps here too.) I have not yet used the square for the purpose for which I bought it (laying out rafters for my current project) but hope to do so soon - the accompanying "blue book" seems fairly comprehensive and I'm confident this square will make my life a lot easier when the time comes. Overall the square is well made from nice thick metal and very nicely finished. My only criticism would be that the black paint applied to the markings wasn't particularly thorough; as the markings themselves are deeply recessed into the metal there is no issue in practice. Edit: I have since used it to make rafters and very much more and it was excellent. Once you've figured out the desired roof pitch it's so simple to get every cut at the right angle - not just for rafters but things like barge boards, sheathing, lining, interior trim etc. Worth every penny.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between the eu202 and the na202, other than price?**
A: Hello, EU202 and NA202 Speed Squares are the same. The only difference are languages on packaging. EU202 (read: European Union) contains writing in English, French and German. NA202 (read: North America) contains writing in English, French and Spanish. Blue Book is the same in all cases - metric and English only. Price difference might come from different batches.
Swanson currently produces only one size metric Speed Square - that is of 25cm. Imperial (ie, inch-denominated) markings are on 7" (classic) or 12" Speed Squares. Consequently, Blue Books inside for the latter two are in inches as well.

**Q: Can you buy the wing nuts for this square as I lost one**
A: The square is American so the units are imperial , I believe the wing nuts are 1/8 UNC it would be easer to take the remaining wing nut to a commercial outlet

**Q: Is it metric or imperial?**
A: The answers in the title as they say! "Swanson Tool S0107 12-Inch Speed Square ". It's Imperial. It's American, they don't "do" metric.

**Q: what is the extra piece for; the slotted bar? How is that used?**
A: Its called a lay out bar which attaches to the square for doing stair risers, also for out of square cuts where you can adjust it to suit the of square line.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Truly brilliant...!
*by P***S on 5 March 2022*

I've been a carpenter in UK for over 40 years and didn't know that 'speed squares' existed until seeing one being explained on a YouTube video last year. Just goes to show how long I've had my head in the sand believing that combination and try squares were the answer to everything. Firstly, I want to point out that these things are designed for speed and the markings are big to be visible with ease, which I suppose could render them 'good enough' rather than pinpoint accurate (though they are accurate). If anything, I would describe them as being the Swiss Army Knife of carpentry - especially when you get the 7" and 12" twin set, which even comes with a little book of tables for calculating roof and stair angles. The metal is thick and solid. There are loads of markings and scales for measuring lengths and angles. They can be used as horizontal and vertical levels. You can use them as guides for a circular saw. There are pencil notches to drag out parallel lines. I mean, they do it all, apart from cut the wood for you. As you may have guessed, they have become integral - indispensable - tools in my kit. They save so much time that it would be inefficient not to use them. I still use a combi square for the occasional instances that they are required (measuring and marking accurate depths and so on) but it is no longer my primary 'go to' square. All in all, an excellent product at a great price.
