Just Buy It
The SMALLRIG Rosette Magic Arm has quickly become one of those essential tools I grab almost every shoot. It’s well-built, reliable enough to mount my cameras to, and incredibly versatile. Right out of the box, this feels like a quality piece of gear. The machining is well done and this thing is unmovable when tightened up. The 11-inch length is a perfect balance: long enough for creative positioning, short enough to stay compact on a camera or cage. The ball head gives smooth, precise adjustment, and the locking knobs are easy to tighten securely without over-torquing. I will admit, it took a little time to be able to use this arm efficiently, mostly because I'm a bit clumsy, but I would consider it best on market for price/quality. I’ve used this for mounting light panels, cameras and monitors and honestly, it works great for all of it. It’s become something I grab reflexively because it solves so many on-set mounting needs without fuss. Setup is quick, and adjustments are smooth. Bottom Line Totally worth it.

Best "cheap" magic arm I've used - not quite a Noga
So far this has been a super sturdy arm, far superior to many other magic arms I have encountered. They are not a noga cine arm, they have some limitations in the precision of where they can be fully tightened. I suspect this is due to a small number of teeth on the rosette mechanism. But still, very very solid - easy to unlock and relock. The arri standard locating pins retract and the rubber pads are decently adhered but I suspect will eventually be destroyed and fall off with removing and tightening. Huge value for the money, but still not the quality of a proper Noga cine arm.

I wish more things were built with this much thought.
I got this to attach my split keyboard mouse and iPad macro controller to my chair. It works great for what I need, but honestly I wanna talk about how well thought out this thing is. The whole thing is adjusted with one knob, which by itself is pretty cool, but they went through the process of adding knurling to the ball heads and meshing teeth at the handle so that the thing does not even think about moving once tightened. The arms themselves are solid, and instead of just being tubes, they put some design work in to make them stronger where they need to be to sturdily support whatever you're attaching. I use them to hold an apple magic track pad for my right hand, and an old heavy iPad I've converted to use as a macro pad on my left and it doesn't bounce or flex while I'm using either. They point where it connects at the end has spring-loaded pins that help to keep the item from backing out by spinning, and there's even a hole you can use with an allen key or other tool to apply decent torque when tightening them down. If had one of my cameras on the end of this, I'd feel no anxiety about it staying there. I am not being paid to say any of this. I didn't get anything free, or any promotional discounts. I don't know anyone at this company. I paid full price, and would do it again, though I have the feeling this thing will be doing its job for my lifetime, and possibly some other's. I subscribe to the buy once; cry once philosophy for things I use more than once, essentially buy a quality lasting item, and spend some extra money, so you don't have to buy it again. It's not really a bank breaker, either, so it was an easy choice. If you can't tell I recommend this.

Not a friction arm...
Super solid holding arm. Love the rosette on the main handle. You can be sure that your monitor or wireless transmitter/receiver won't be moving around on you. The ball mounts that are on either end have these milling lines in them, adding another point of locking when you crank down on the handle. Been saying it for years, SmallRig isn't the cheap Chinese alternative to Wooden Camera. It's on the same level of quality and I say that from years of experience and disappointment with Wooden Camera parts. I have yet to have a SmallRig piece that is solid aluminum fail on me on set. Don't sleep on SmallRig.

Must have
I use this for my field monitor so that I can position it right where I need it when shoulder shooting. It's super sturdy, only caveat is that it tends to sway because the nubs at the feet don't line up to the holes for them on my cage unless I mount it to my top handle in a very specific way in order for it to stay out when screwed in. But it's an optimal spot so it works for me.

Confidently keeps the monitor in any position without failing.
Solid piece of kit.

A Premium Magic Arm Worth the Extra Cost
I got this after getting several somewhat cheaper magic arms to hold up a relatively heavy piece of lighting equipment. The increase in price on the SMALLRIG arm is worth it now (2023) because the build quality is much more robust than other brands. This arm is noticeably more stable than similarly sized ones I have from less reputable (and expensive) products. The only downside is that I found the system for securing the mount points, which is supposed to use allen wrenches to lock in place, not to be reliable. You need to be careful about having the weight of the arm not be on the side which would "loosen" the connection, as even locked all the way down the rotational force can cause it to slip. Still - better than the competition.

Good pickup for it's intended use
This was definitely a great pickup I have used this so many times on so many productions, what I like about this clamp versus most clamps is that it has the locking pins on the end so I can truthfully secure my device, but I also like the Rosette style locking system to make sure that my device won't slip out of place once I get it locked in.
