My last refill lasted almost two years before one day suddenly the washing didn't smell clean when I opened the machine. Put in new refill - perfect again. Can't praise enough for every day use. I don't however have children or very soiled clothing so I don't know how they perform for that. But for normal washes they are absolutely brilliant. I can't imagine how much money I save! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Always great results *by L***Y on 24 March 2015* I have been using these for several years. The pellets last surprisingly long. I very occasionally use oxygen bleach for stubborn stains on whites but otherwise I get good results even on the shortest programme at low temperatures. You save time and money on shorter programmes as you don't need to rinse out residual soap. And I never use conditioner. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Straightforward but requires brute force *by C***T on 20 May 2014* First, how to know I need refills: my clothes were coming out the machine with a slight residual smell and, critical for me, still irritating to my skin where the ecoballs previously washed them well. I had been using the ecoballs almost daily for about 6 months and the pellets within had shrunk to about half their original volume.Second, opening the ecoballs: I have the mark 2 design with the plug. I needed a screwdriver to lever the plug out, requiring more force and time than I had expected. I did mash the edges a bit. Pour the used pellets into the bin.Third, fill each ecoball with 2 sachets of new pellets. This should completely fill both ecoballs. You get 6 sachets in the refill box, i.e. 1.5 refills' worth.Fourth, replace the plug: more levering with screwdriver.Clothes now washing well again.Essentially a simple task, glowing with environmental and economical credibility.
