I requested these to use on an offroad trailer I am building for behind my Jeep. I wanted something I could weld on rather than screw or bolt because it makes it much easier to make weatherproof. My trailer has three doors that I used two hinge sets each, so I have two hinges that I didn't use yet. They are a steel hinge so the pin will rust if not greased. I just drilled and installed a grease fitting in each one because I figured that would be easier than removing the doors periodically to grease. It would be nice if these came tapped for fittings but I guess if someone is buying a weld on hinge they probably have the tools and know how to add a grease fitting. All 8 sets fit together well with no binding or rough spots. Overall I would say these are some pretty nice hinges and would buy them again if I ever had a need.

Truthfully I have not welded these on to the project they were intended for, but I might rethink their use after fiddling with them. So I think these were good quality hinges and will work fine for vertical applications. But I think there is too much slop in the fitment for a tight fitting lid or like a heavy duty mailbox door that opens out and needs to rotate back to exactly the same spot for the lock to work. Not to say you couldn't make them work, but other hinges I've ordered have a very tight tolerance with almost no slop either in the vertical or around the axis. These little guys will work great for a trailer tailgate or ramp or something like that where slop could be 1/4" and the tailgate would fit fine, or just use them on a gate in the vertical position.

First It said 8 pcs. So i thought I would get 4 total hinges.... Nope its 8 total hinges, totaling 16 pcs.... I been so conditioned to companies including every screw or whatever as a pc in a kit, that I misunderstood what I was receiving. Now I can build more gates!! -Very smooth operation, my one complaint would be not having a hole for grease zerks for continued smooth operation. -Nicely made hinges and the ability to be able to buy these ready made, rather than having to make them myself is amazing. -I will be using these to make 2 gates so far. One exterior gate for dogs, that i will add zerks to them, and one for interior use for keeping my baby boy from getting to areas he shouldn't be yet. After those two will be fixing my motorcycle trailer gate hinges, because they didnt have zerks.........

Indeed this is a lot of 8 full hinges which are perfect for my steel gate project at the house here. In all I’ll be using 6 of these hinges three gates that I’m getting ready to weld up. I like that the pin is ever so much longer than the hole so there’s less friction. The machine tolerances seem good for allowing ample grease to fill the hinge and stay there. But as others have suggested I may drill out the hole sides of these and add a grease zerk fitting to them. Honestly I mean it’s a gate and I’ve got two similar gates with similar hinges that have been working fine for more than 10 years with no lubrication at all… so I may be overthinking this whole need for grease thing… Bottom line, nicely made hinges at a nice price.
