As shipped the adapter has a male zerk fitting for connection to a standard grease gun. We were concerned that when trying to remove the grease gun after greasing the adapter might detach from the grease gun but this proved not a problem for us. Presumably you could however remove the zerk fitting from the adapter and directly connect to the gun's grease pipe or hose. This proved a useful adapter for upper ball joints on the solid front axle of a 1989 V1500 Suburban. It would probably do U-joints as well. **Q: Does this leak if it is at an angle?** A: Obviously this is designed to go straight on. That being said it will still seal at a small angle before it starts to leak. Maybe it will tolerate 10 or 15°. **Q: Mine has silicone in it. Is that supposed to be in there?** A: The plastic inside the barrel of this adapter is supposed to be there to create the seal when attached to the grease fitting. **Q: you can bet the knockoffs will show a pic "in-use" (for the 24/7/365 free sales increase). Seals tight and doesn’t leak. It’s the lowest profile one I’ve tried and allows me to grease my lower ball joints without having to pull the axle shafts if I line everything up perfectly it just barely sneaks in there. Wish I had found this a decade ago, have tried a handful of these things over the years and none of them worked for this application. Have probably pulled those damn axle shafts a 100 times by now to grease the lowers until I tried this product.
