Even when using multiple times per day, I only need to charge the unit once every 6 weeks or more. After the original purchase, my dog was very easily trained to respond to the beep, and when I really need to get his attention I jump up to vibrate. In over a year and a half, I have only used the shock function 3 times, when I worried my good boy was in danger of chasing a squirrel in the road.
