Duracell do them less than half the price of a Sony..... thanks** A: I use a non-Sony branded battery in my CX450, it has 5700mAh capacity, more than five times the capacity of the standard battery (NP-FV50 at 980mHa). It's good for around 10hours of heavy use and probably more hours if you are careful with your settings. The brand of the battery I use is DSTE and the model number, which is made by a few companies, is NP-FV100. Does add a little weight but it's negligible. Makes the camera feel more sturdy at least.A note on batteries - brands are good but as long as you find something semi legit with a good mAh rating it will do the job. Do avoid Ultrafire LiPo's for powering anything though, as they occasionally live up to their name.Sources: I used this battery (NP-FV100) daily for two weeks in India and Nepal with little access to charging and only topped it up the once - although I probably didn't have to considering the capacity I've gotten from it since. **Q: Is this any good for low budget film making. Can I attach a rode microphone to it?** A: For the money I have found the camera to be excellent value. I connect external audio to it via a line feed from a mixing desk.
