Hearos Ultimate Softness Series Foam Earplugs, 20-Pair

Foam earplugs hurt my ears, but wax ones don't keep enough noise out. I've tried five or six different types of earplugs over the past year or so, and the Hearos Ultimate Softness have come out on top and will be my repeat purchase in future despite the corny name. They last for several uses (depending on how clean you keep the insides of your ears) and are inexpensive. They really are softer than the other foam plugs I've tried, and more comfortable if used properly. It's reassuring to have so many of them -- I've distributed them between the places I regularly stay and will put some in my travel bag and handbag so that I'm not caught without them on a work trip or staying over at a friend's. I wish they were washable and reusable, if only to save on landfilling the foam rubber, but this hasn't been an option with any of the squash-roll earplugs I've bought. Hearos, please start marketing a small bottle of whatever it is you soak the foam rubber in to get it to squish down -- I'll buy it on the side and roll my own. Having said how soft and comfortable they are, if I don't fully insert these plugs, these still leave my ears sore in the morning. The trick seems to be to get nearly all of the earplug inside the ear canal so that there is an even pressure inside. To do this you need to master the art of rolling the plug down into a thin cylinder and quickly inserting it fully. Pulling the gristle of your ear slightly up, back and out and practising finding the right angle really do help. I still occasionally have to try four or five times for the left ear but it's well worth it for a good night's sleep. Note: on last use of these, I slept through the first three alarms of my partner's noisy electronic alarm clock, which is unusual for me. You may want to use an alarm that vibrates!

I used to have great trouble sleeping. The slightest noise would wake me, and then getting back to sleep always seemed impossible. After trying a few other brands and materials, I have found these to be the best. They are able to cut out all but the most noticeable of sound. Don't get me wrong, your partner will not e able to watch t.v. at normal volume whilst you are trying to sleep. That said I have not been able to top these. No residue from wax, and the foam is soft enough to be comfortable. If these are the first you have tried, it may take a couple of nights to get used to the initial feeling of pressure, but you will soon miss it if its not there. I have also found that the sensory deprivation that comes with wearing them, helps with the process of getting to sleep. No more lying for hours counting sheep. Great product, and I will continue to purchase for years to come. ****Update**** They recently changed the design of these. They are now even easier to remove thanks to a more rounded tip. My other half always worried about not being able to retrieve them if they went too deep. No longer a concern.

Not very comfortable because they are so thick. They are very soft and block noise VERY well. If they were thinner they could be superb, but they put too much pressure on the inside of the ear. They are not too bad if you only put the in a tiny bit. The cheapo (£1 for a pack of 10) orange silicone ones are more comfortable than this. They have a long handle kinda thing sticking out of them but I often shorten that with scissors. These Hearos certainly block much more noise, even if you don't put them in very far. I suppose you might be able to make these thinner with scissors, but I guess it might not be very reusable if you do that. Not bad for £5 for a pack of 20 pairs. Delivery wasn't very fast which was annoying, but I don't regret buying these.

If like me you are finding your sleep schedule regularly disturbed due to noise then these really are a great help. It took a couple of nights to get used to them but now I find that I sleep throughout the night without being awoken suddenly by loud noise. They are effective and affordable and easily disposed after use. I usually get 3-4 night use out of each pair and now that I’m used to them I cannot live without them. If I forget to put them in I usually regret it at about 7am when our neighbor decides to let out their dogs to wake up the whole street, something which has not bothered me since using these. You do have to ensure that they are fitted snuggly before bed or they can fall out but once you get the hang of it there really isn’t a problem. I’m on my 4th box now and after trying a couple other brands, cheaper and more expensive, I find these the best all round performers. If your having problems sleeping give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Like many other reviewers, I think this product is dreadful; the new updates to it have made it unusable. I've been using Hearos for over a decade now and they were, consistently, the absolute best ear plugs out there, without a doubt. I first encountered them in the USA (I am in the UK) and they changed my life: I lived on a very noisy main road, and they completely drowned out the sound and enabled me to sleep. I found them perfect in their sound-blocking and they were also exceptionally comfortable, unlike any other earplugs I had tried. Simply: the best of the lot. So good, in fact, that I would buy dozens of them every time I visited the USA, and request friends and family purchased additional stock so that I never ran out. Cut to now: I bought a new pack (Hearos have redesigned the earplugs) a couple of weeks ago and after trying 3 pairs, I have now dumped the entire pack of 20 in the garbage. They are unusable. Crap quality. They do not block sound - hell, they don't even *muffle* sound. Total waste of time and money. In addition, they are incredibly uncomfortable (they have changed shape and also foam density) and they don't even stick in the ear - unlike their predecessors, which always fitted perfectly and stayed in place all night. Seriously, I am so upset and disappointed by the unecessary changes to the design and how badly this product has dropped in quality. It's not worth a penny: I can't emphasise this enough. THEY DON'T WORK ANYMORE. Awful. Hearos, when decades-long customers and fans are offering you feedback like this, when you have lost our custom, are you not going to take heed and return the product to its old design and quality? I'll not purchase from you again - but if you bring back the old design, I will once more buy your products in bulk. So sad. Read the reviews! Honestly, don't waste your money!

I have slept next to a loud snorer for many, many years now and it is very frustrating and my quality of sleep has suffered in that time. I went down the route of anti-snoring devices and nasal sprays for my partner but to no avail. I thought these were worth a try... I am over the moon that I took that risk as they work fantastically. Easy to press into a small piece and place in your ear drum, these then expand to the size of the opening and stay in place very securely. I have had many ear plugs in the past that fall out when asleep but these never have. They are easily cleaned and reusable so a pack should last as long as you want it to really. The noise that these block are amazing, nothing gets through! One slight negative is that when I awaken my ears a slightly sore where they have been, not a bad pain but a little discomfort from where they have expanded and lodged themselves. I actually think this is down to my rather small ears and the fact I have them in for 7-8 hours. You won't regret buying these if you are looking for ear plugs, I highly recommend. Please be aware that "Hearos Ultimate Softness" seems to be a generic product description and the earplug you receive from the various sellers might vary from order to order. My first order, in a pack of 14 pairs, contained fairly slim and smooth plugs, 23mm long and with a neat flat end 11mm in diameter. These are very comfortable, but the noise attenuation is poor (with correct fitting technique). The earplugs from this particular supplier are better value for money - 20 pairs for less than the 14 pair pack - but strangely the design of the nominally same product is significantly different. These have a rounded, uneven feature on the large end and the body of the plug is much less even. This is overflow from the mould and evidence of cost cutting at the expense of quality. They are 26mm long and 12mm diameter. Noise masking is pretty much the same (i.e. not great), but unlike the smoother designs, these can't be used comfortably the wrong way round - with large end first - for a better fit. Compared with the 14-pack, these look like seconds, or factory rejects (I'm not saying that they are; just my opinion)

These are neither the best nor worst earplugs I have used. Comfort: If you manage to get them in the sweet spot, they can be comfortable for ~4hours before irritation sets in. They're not great for sleeping as pressure on the outside can transfer to the inner ear. 3.5/5 Sound: I bought these on the recommendation of an online review wherein they were given a 9.5/10 for sound dampening. I work in a fairly quiet workplace, so I am looking to bring that quiet down to as close to silence as possible. With that in mind I personally I give them a 4/10 as they do not seem to touch the low end of the spectrum. The noise of fireworks outside seemed unaffected. 2/5.

The best earplugs ever...skin colored and really soft...great for long duration without any discomfort...really nice...

Pretty awesome earbuds. Can sleep in them easily. I didn't actually know how far you were supposed to put earplugs in until I bought these. They worked a lot better after I figured that out. Super soft and comfortable as well. GREAT for sleeping! I think they can still fall out at times though. Hardly much of a problem though. Loved that I got 40 pairs as well.
