## Overview

The ART DualZDirect is a dual-channel, fully passive direct box featuring high-performance audio transformers that convert high-impedance inputs into balanced low-impedance outputs without batteries. It offers switchable input attenuation, low-pass filtering, phase inversion, and ground lift to ensure clean, noise-free audio in live, studio, or permanent installations. ## Description

The DUALZDirect provides two independent high quality totally passive interfaces that let you connect instrument, line, or speaker level signals to a mixer or other balanced inputs through high performance audio isolation transformers. Each of the high impedance single-ended 1/4″ inputs is converted by a transformer into an isolated, balanced, low impedance signal output. The DUALZDirect’s audio transformers have an extremely flat and wide frequency response and can handle high signal levels. This gives the DUALZDirect a very clean and neutral sound with a wide variety of signal sources and over long signal runs in high noise environments. The input ATTENUATOR switches allow for a wide range of signal levels and the input THRU jacks allows for tapping off of your signal chain. The GROUND LIFT switches let you totally separate the input and output signal grounds, when appropriate, to isolate two systems, thereby reducing hum and ground-loop noise. What further sets the DUALZDirect apart from other “DI” boxes are its extended features and versatility. We have added switchable low pass FILTERs that cut out all very high frequency interference. These Bessel filters on the outputs are placed out of the audio range and are primarily intended to reduce radio frequency interference before it gets into the main system. The filters are very effective in reducing any digital computer noise artifacts when using the DUALZDirect as an interface between a computer-based audio workstation and your monitors. The PHASE INVERT switches, while not normally included with your “run of the mill” DI box, have been added to allow you to switch signal polarity right at the source. This feature is especially handy when you are combining a direct tap with a microphone feed in the mix. The compact black-anodized all aluminum case and it’s passive design allow the DUALZDirect to provide years of trouble free service in Live Sound, Permanent/Fixed Install, D.J., and virtually any PA application. It’s full feature set, rugged construction, and high-end specifications make the DUALZDirect the obvious choice.

Review: buy it. - wouldn't buy for a keyboard, there is no audible difference. not in quality of sound, level or anything. for acoustic guitar? this DI box sounds louder in a pleasant way, much more detail, clarity, fullness and tone. coming from a amateur home studio recordist and we use this in a small church setting. ab tested this with cheaper DI boxes we have lying around, this is worth every penny, like taking a blanket off of the guitar.

**Q: How does this compare to the radial prod2 passive 2 channel direct box???**
A: Radial is known for making great Active DI Boxes. For Passive, Countryman 85 is standard. I own a dozen of Art DI boxes both passive and active. For the price, they are great. Low noise and lots of functionality

**Q: Does this equalize sound levels?  i want movies/music to be at the same db level what cables and connectors are needed to work with my tv, ipad, pc?**
A: This device grounds an ungrounded line (guitar cable) and outputs a grounded line (xlr cable). It does not affect volume/sound levels.  It seems that you need a mixer.  A mixer brings various sound inputs together and outputs one sound mix.  Each input needs a channel.  You will need to determine how many inputs you want at one time and buy a mixer with sufficient input channels.  You will adjust the volume of each channel to mix the volume for equal or unequal volumes.  Mixer inputs will be either guitar style or mic (xlr) style.  You will need to research the cable connectors you need for the various devices.  Consider a Yamaha MG6 mixer as a starting point.  Download the manual for reference.

**Q: Wanting to use these to run apple tv audio, ipod and pc audio to my x32. Will this do what I need?**
A: The question is a bit broad, if you have compatible connections, it will pass the audio.  Your iPad on has a small connector for audio out.  You will have to verify that you can make the connections, the manual helps.

A: I haven't used it specifically for what you described, but I believe it will work.  You may need to engage or release the pads.  I typically use for keyboard LR output, or other line level output device(iPod, CD, decks, etc.) and have been pleased with the results.

Economical, sounds good, nice size. I'm using it for a stereo send from electronic drums, keyboards, etc., so I don't know how the cross talk would be for 2 discrete signals, but it sure makes setups neater and easier than grabbing 2 boxes and stacking them together, etc.
