Want to use this with dect phone & fttp -do i need a connection to bt phone socket as well as router?
not sure which wires needed for the base unit.

On the rear of the HT810 ATA unit you will see 3 sockets. The centre one is to connect the power supply mains adaptor. The left one coloured blue and marked with a globe symbol connects to a spare ethernet port on your router using a standard ethernet cable.  My unit came with an ethernet cable. The right hand socket coloured green and marked with a telephone handset symbol connects directly to the telephone. The Grandstream has an American RJ 11 type socket so if your telephone has a standard BT plug you will require an RJ 11 plug to BT socket lead. I picked up one of these for £2 - 49. from Amazon. No other connections are needed. I am pleased to help and hope this solves the problem for you.

Will it convert voip call into analog to ring an analog phone over the voip system?

Correct, I have an analogue phone with 2 handsets. They work exactly the same as they used to with the BT line, but now they are connected to my router via this box and still function the same. The additional functions you get is you can see caller ID of the person that's calling at no extra cost, as well as being able to automatically divert withheld calls straight to voicemail. Well with the cost.

How do you use this to connect house alarm.  Need analogue to send sms.  Any setting up.  Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm no expert on this as I only use my HT801 for calls and it's brilliant for that. I think that you may have to register with a voip provider and instead of using a phone, connect your alarm instead and the only Company that I know who will not charge a monthly fee is Sipgate basic and many of their apps are free including sms. If you want to make voip calls as well using an analogue phone/system, you will need the Grandstream HT802. I hope that this is helpful.
