You will have to put in dried ingredients to the top to check about the 1 kg aspect. If you mean 'beans rice, or pulses' just fill and 'JIGGLE'. I even put VERY hot chicken stock in them (obviously let stock COOL before attempting to MOVE container. BUT, they HOLD ANYTHING YOU CARE TO NAME !!! and the LIDS are as secure as a Swiss Bank. I used them to freeze products and store in the fridge, stored dried ingredients as air tight. I put them through my dishwasher all the time and they come out perfect.
