The scissors are sharp, although they were a little stiff so I oiled the screw. For trimming off excess liner/wallpaper on an outward corner I would recommend buying one of those plastic paper cutters for giftwrapping, they're cheap and cheerful but I found them far more effective in cutting clean neat lines on outward corners. My first attempt with the scissors left jagged lines although I did pull the scissors in one long continuous cut.
