The shape is great, and makes it very easy to slough off the dead skin right next to your nail, where a nail file or buffing block can't reach. I recommend dipping it in water and using it wet for greatest effect.However, it has a couple of drawbacks. It's very slow to use and takes a lot of back and forth to get a smooth surface. Well worth the effort, but not a quick fix. At the same time, the squared-off edges make it very easy to remove too much skin in one area if you aren't careful. Unlike a typical rounded pumice, these edges are sharp! I accidentally created bleeding cracks on two separate fingers where the edge rubbed too deeply against my finger as I was trying to smooth out the surface. To avoid this, I'd recommend filing slowly and in a circular, rather than up and down motion. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The BEST cuticle eraser. *by T***A on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 4, 2016* I have what I'd describe as "aggressive" cuticles -- they require pushing back and tend to be a bit messy. An orange stick (wooden) cuticle pusher does nothing, and the metal ones aren't effective at removing the dead bits of cuticle. This stone cuticle pusher is hard to find, but highly effective. What works best for me: soak nails in water (with a bit of oil or soap) for a few minutes, then push back cuticles, using this tool to "scrub" the nails to remove the dead bits of cuticle. Use cuticle nippers to remove hangnails but do NOT trim the cuticles (causes awful peeling cuticles a few days later). Apply oil and massage into the nails. This, done once a week, has given me very lovely fingers.One small note: like a glass nail file (you should also get one of those!), these stone tools are fragile.
