The others I tested are made so that unless your pie or cheesecake comes totally up to the top of the pie pan, the cutter blade will not even touch the surface to mark it. Due to the blade design on this cutter, the blades WILL fit down into the pie area even if the top surface is well below the lip of the pie pan.
