I have a mixed fish and shrimp tank (20 mixed red cherry and amano shrimps), had no issue with shrimps after I used the product so I can say t was shrimp safe in my experience. It will be better to clean the tank, and then use green away, or algae minus products in the freshly cleaned tank. those products will keep the algae from growing. This product will make the water more clear by combining small contaminating particles in the water and then those gets filtered out. **Q: Can this be used with an under gravel filter** A: I have an under gravel filter & use Tetra Crystal Water.
