## Description

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) : desertcart.co.uk: PC & Video Games

Review: A Worthy Sequel - I'll preface this by admitting that I haven't yet finished the game. I got it yesterday (and ran around my flat shrieking in glee!), sat down, and played for about three hours - I've got to the point of opening up the second world. I think it's safe to assume that it's not going to drastically change over the next however-many levels! Fantastic stuff: - Yoshi! Being able to run around on Yoshi is a LOT of fun, and a very welcome addition. It is a *little* annoying that he runs away if you get hit once, but not so annoying that it takes anything away. So I'm thrilled to have him included. - Graphics. Well, they're the same as the first game, which is no bad thing. Shiny, polished, cartoony - lovely. Easy on the eyes, and many of the aminations are vastly entertaining to watch. - Sound. Just as good as the first installment. The music is gorgeous to listen to, the special effects fit perfectly. There isn't any voice acting to speak of, but I actually like that in a game. I haven't yet played a game with voice acting that I thought was truly great, so restricting the characters' noises to grunts, shouts, and whoops works for me. - Difficulty. Well, hard to say, really. On the one hand, a couple of the levels have been an enjoyable challenge so far. I've died a few times, but it hasn't put me off. On the other hand, at close of play yesterday (remember, about three hours of playing!) I had over thirty one-ups, which is overkill, I think. I understand that it's to create a cushion for less experienced players, but I do think it's madness that it's so easy to accumulate the things. I also get irrationally irritated that I lose them all when I turn the console off, heh. - Collectables. Coins and star-bits, as before. I don't know if it's just that I'm a bit better now, but I feel as if there are more coins in this game? Star-bits still very easy to collect (I have over a thousand in my Toad Bank now, which is a little ridiculous!), just wave your Wii around the screen. - Power ups. The drill and the cloud are both excellent additions (these are the only new ones I've come across so far), and everything from the last game is included, with the exception of the ice flower. I haven't got to the relevant level yet, but apparently the spring suit is included - I am NOT happy about that, because it was easily the most annoying thing in the last game. - Variety. The levels are much shorter now, and there are only two (as opposed to three or four) "basic" stars per galaxy. I say basic, as I'm not including hidden stars and the comets. I like the Mario space-ship a lot better than the hub world of the first game. Although I enjoyed exploring it, and I did like Rosalina's backstory, it did get a little tiresome having to run from one side to the other to get to the next level. Now, you still have a (smaller) base to run around in, complete with Toads and Lumas, but getting from level to level is much easier, with the addition of a world-map. - Overall. Yes, there are a few things about this game that bother me. But taken as a whole, it doesn't detract from the overall experience in any meaningful way. If you loved the first game, and aren't expecting any massive changes from the basic format, I think you'll love this sequel.
Review: Not really a 2 player game - If this had been sold as a 1-player game then I'd give it a full 5 stars. The gameplay is excellent, and as with most Mario games there is plenty of play-time to be had here. It's played mainly by my 5 and 6 year old sons, and it's perfect for them. My complaint is that it states it's a 2-player game, and it's not really. The second player can control a cursor to pick up stars but not much else. This isn't a very exciting role to take, which means that it's effectively a 1-player game. So Nintendo, great game, but shame on you for being somewhat misleading ... with 2 sons it's pretty important that we get games that are "real" 2-player (or more) games.

## Features

- Skilled players will want to collect new Comet Metals, which will unlock harder levels with even more challenges
- Mario collects stars as he travels from galaxy to galaxy, sometimes upside-down, sometimes floating from place to place.
- On some stages, Mario can find an egg, smash it open and hop onto the back of Yoshi.
- New power-ups include a drill that Mario uses to tunnel through the planet's surface all the way to the other side of a planet
- Every level is new, but the game retains the charm, sense of wonder and beauty in line with Mario's history.Yoshi can use his tongue to grab items and shoot them back at enemies, or to snag attach points and swing across chasms. When he eats a Dash Pepper, he gets so hot and frenzied he can run up steep inclines and vertical walls..When he eats a Blimp Fruit, he inflates like a balloon and floats to new heights

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a multi-player game? With two boys, I can't buy unless they can BOTH play at the same time.**
A: Yes and no. Technically it is a 2 player game where they can play at the same time however when you play like this the 2nd player does not have a character on the screen. What the 2nd player does is use the remote to help the first player pick up items. So while they can play at the same time the 2nd player is so limited that they might as well not be on there. Nevertheless the game is super fun. We have 4 boys and they like to help each other play. I would still highly recommend the game. They would enjoy it more with their own separate files.

**Q: Which is better super mario galaxy 1 or 2? I bought SMG 1.**
A: Hello I hate to admit it but I haven't played the first Mario Galaxy. I bought Mario Galaxy 2 for my daughter when it came out.I haven't had a chance to go back and play the first one. I highly recommend the Mario Galaxy 2. Thank you

**Q: Can a five year old play this game?**
A: Yes, definitely the child can play without problem

**Q: does this game has a split screen mode ?**
A: This game does not have a split screen mode. you can use a second Wiimote to collect and fire start bites for player one. it is not a true two player game but you can have a second player help player 1. Hope this helps!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it...
*by P*** on 17 November 2011*

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is one game which I cannot praise high enough.. I am well over 21 but I really did like it which I was so shocked at as my favourite games are those puzzle games where you have too work things out etc but some of the challenges had puzzle details where you had too work things out to finish the game. I bought this for my nephew for when he visits as he is the type of little boy who always has to be busy at something which usually meant something smashed so I decided to buy him a couple of games which I asked around which one to buy and this one was recommended constantly for the Nintendo Wii. I just loved everything about it and it was so easy to play as it was made plain what you had to do plus it comes with a Video enclosed with the actual game which was very handy especially for my nephew as he did not want his old Aunt telling him what to do according to him "That's not cool!!". The video actually contains the following: 1. The Basics :- Getting Started, Controlling Mario, Clearing Stages. It was more or less how to start your journey. (this lasted eight minutes). 2. Playing the Game:- Pointing at the screen, Riding Yoshi, Useful Actions, Co-star Mode, What to do if you get stuck. (this lasted seven minutes). 3. Special Movie Collection:- which contained a lot of useful hints on how to do the harder games and had two titles on creative game play which had numerous hints which I found very useful. There is also two titles helping you finish the challenges which proved to be very valuable as some of the challenges do get harder as the game continues but this video is really worth watching.(this actually lasted 7 minutes). I cannot recommend this game highly enough and not just for the entertainment value but children will have to work things out for themselves while playing this which I think is an extra plus for me. I also have played the first Mario Galaxy but I do believe this is a far better game not just for the better graphics but there has been more thought been put into the game. This game is well worth the money and I know every child either girl or boy or even teenager would love this, and not just for the kids Mum and Dad would have fun too.
