It is primarily used by barbers/stylists as a primer before applying pomade. Someone like myself can spray a good amount in my hair prior to blow-drying to thicken/texturize the hair and give it a weightless hold. I can then apply pomade to give it better control and easier shaping. Some people will also use this as a stand-alone product if they do not want to apply the product in their hair or are looking for a spray to lock in the style they have with their pomade for the remainder of their day. **Q: does it give a wet look?** A: It does not. Layrite Deluxe **Q: Can I use this instead of gel or pomade?** A: It doesn’t have the holding power of a gel. I do use it to style my hair. when it dries it will keep your hair in place. I then use a little hair spray **Q: What's the right way to use the spray, before or after you style your hair with the pomade?** A: My barber (then myself) sprayed it on towel dry hair and then blow dried to style it with a vented brush. I used a little matte cream after. It does well on its own if you want the dry look.
