He is currently into superheroes, so although I read the reviews I bought the set anyway.First, I must state that I agree with everyone saying its not really phonics or following the way the learn in phonics. However, there are lots of pictures and minimal wording. The subject matter is engaging and my son loves his set. It makes him want to read. As yet, he cannot fully read them independently, but that doesn't stop him from enjoying the books on his own. When we read them together, sometimes he will read the whole story, with help from me. At other times, we will share the reading, ie. he will read the words he can and I read the rest. Or lastly, if he just wants to enjoy the story, he will ask me to read it.I'm happy with the purchase as it's encouraging a love of reading. He saw the Spiderman set at his sister's school book fair and asked me to buy that for him too. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get your child's reading juices flowing... *by M***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 May 2013* My son (4-5yrs) loves to read and loves all super hero's especially Batman. This pack is very well package and can be carried any where and there is also space in side for a snack and pack of cards/small toy figure, whoopee every boys dream. A boy in his class has been struggling with his reading (it's boring!). So for his birthday I bought a set for him.Yep you got it he loves batman. Though some of the words are a little difficult and above their level of reading they both persevere with sounding out the words, and yes the little boy is starting to enjoy reading, result. The books have a picture on one page and text of one or two simple sentences on the other. The stories are simple and each books promotes a theme such as, be good, have good friends, friends help each other etc. Also Superman and Wonder Woman make an appearance. I would like more of these sets for the same price but beware some of them are very expensive why I don’t know, check out Spiderman as an expensive example. My 4 year old boy started reception in September. He has not grasped the phonics or reading and we have struggled so much to get him interested. I've got to admit that the Biff, Chip & Kipper stories wouldn't grip me either - but that's not today's review!We'd bought various apps and other books but they'd been flat out rejected by my son. then I came across these and thought they would be worth a try.Am SO pleased I did. Each little book focuses on a phonic sound and introduces a new aspect of batman. Everything from meeting his enemies, and learning about the batcave to finding out about the gadgets etc. Each book only has 5 short pages - so you can quickly read through these and then spot the familiar words and learn some new favourites such as joker, penguin etc.My son is gripped.
