Sealed. Perfect. 5 Pack. Review: TDK D90 Audio Cassettes - These TDK D Ferrite cassettes are always recommended and a good standard to measure other ferrite cassette tapes against. They have a good smooth transport and reproduction. I have used them for many years as they are good value for money and I am one of the few who still enjoy analogue recordings. They are better than the Maxell ferrite tapes I bought a number of years ago which are much more basic although ok for some general use. Usually it is easier to find the maxell normal tapes which are certainly not as good as these TDK normal ferrite ones. I used to swear by the old AD TDK tapes but I beleive these to be long gone from the market: they were certainly special. However, with TDK Chrome tapes being so relatively cheaper over recent years, maybe there is no market for this extra special ferrite cassette. The TDK D's produce excellent recordings accross the musical frequencies with good tape recorders but those extra special recordings would be better recorded on a good chrome or metal cassette. However, I rate the TDK D series very highly and they produce surprisingly good recordings with good audio cassette machines, especially those featuring a Tape Tuning feature. Review: Old School - I had 100's of these in the 80's. TDK were always my favourite brand. They are just the same now, complete with the very satisfying little sticker sheets. Made up a load of 80's mix tapes for my 80's car. With the cassette comes an identification sleeve with stick on reference paper attachments to put onto the cassette if so desired. Personally I fill in the end of the white paper sleeve with the tape number plus any other information I wish to add. The dearer the tape and the shorter usually give excellent playback results. Cheap and longer tapes give poorer results. Cheers Bob Brooks. **Q: Is the cassette body held together with screws or moulded?** A: There do not seem to be any screws, I think the 2 halves of the cassette body are glued together. **Q: I need the tiny micro casettee** A: hi. these are compact audio cassette. you may need either the micro cassette or the older slightly larger mini cassette for dictation purposes **Q: It's described as "Chromedioxide: non Chrome". What exactly does this mean?** A: Chrome dioxide was once used in the manufacture of magnetic tapes giving high performance audiotapes. Its use declined partly because of toxic by-products yielded during its manufacture. In the mid-1970's "chrome-equivalent" cobalt-modified tapes were developed, using iron oxide. Tape coatings sold as either "normal" or "chrome" consist of ferric oxide and cobalt mixed in varying proportions. Presumably this one is pure chrome dioxide.
