The Singer model HD6700 Electronic Heavy Duty sewing machine is capable of sewing garment weight leather (a soft supple leather of 2-3 oz [0.8 – 1.2 mm] is normal for garments) with the proper machine settings and leather needle type 2032. We do not recommend trying to sew any leather heavier than 3 ounces. Please be aware that if you sew on multiple layers or materials that are too thick and it raises the presser foot too high (higher than the normal up position), the top tension will be disengaged and the machine will not make a proper stitch (may jam machine). **Q: What is the difference between the 6700 and 6700c?** A: There is no difference in the machines. The difference between the Singer models 6700 and 6700C is the wording in the different website ads. They are both the same sewing machine.
