The  2.5 Degree Bent, Polished and Graphite-Coated Axles are a Pinewood Pro ExclusiveWe start with BSA nails straight from the BSA Cub Scout derby car kit.First we lathe and polish them to remove burrs and crimp marks on the shaft and under the nail head.Next we bend them 2.5 degrees so you can cant your wheels, which drives the wheel away from the car body to minimize wheel-car body friction.Then we cut a groove in the axle head so you can easily turn the axle with a screwdriver.Lastly, we graphite-coat the shaft of the axle so the graphite stays on your axles...right through the District Race! Key FeaturesThe axle head is not graphite-coated. Shaft of the axle is graphite-coated to minimize frictionScrewdrvier slot cut in the axle head to easily turn the axle with a screwdriverLess wheel touching the track which reduces frictionNOTE: It is very difficult to see a 2.5 degree bend with the naked eye.
