Product Description Intricately-plotted legal thriller based on the bestseller by acclaimed crime novelist Michael Connelly. Matthew McConaughey plays criminal defence lawyer Mickey Haller, who prefers working out of the back of his Lincoln town car to sitting in an office. When Haller takes on rich young real estate broker Louis Ross Roulet (Ryan Phillippe) as a client, the case seems pretty cut-and-dried. As events progress, however, Haller starts to doubt Roulet's veracity, and echoes from past cases come back to haunt him. Before too long, Haller knows he's being played by a pro, but to what end and for what purpose? Marisa Tomei, John Leguizamo and William H. Macy co-star while Brad Furman directs. desertcart.co.uk Review Smooth operator Mickey Haller (Matthew McConaughey) zips around Los Angeles in his chauffeured Lincoln town car, cutting deals and finding clients on the road. Then he lands a doozy: a rich real-estate heir (Ryan Phillippe) accused of the brutal assault of an escort. At first, the case looks like a breeze, but odd details start nagging at Haller until he recognizes an ugly connection to an earlier case--and realizes he's been set up in the strangest way. There are some deep implausibilities in The Lincoln Lawyer, but they hardly matter. This is a movie that cruises on charm and smart casting, from McConaughey as a man whose glib polish is betrayed by a streak of doubt, down to the detectives (solid performances from Bryan Cranston, Michael Paré, Michaela Conlin, and others) and lowlifes (Katherine Moennig as an unlucky hooker, Shea Whigham as a lazy snitch) that flesh out the legal world. Every character pops out, clean and distinct; this sort of web-of-deceit story line, full of twists and turns, depends on the audience clearly connecting all the players. Some moments get overstated or maybe don't make complete sense, but the zippy pace carries the audience over those bumps. The Lincoln Lawyer could easily turn into a television series, a sort of Rockford Files-esque mixture of procedure and puzzle making. Also starring Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, Frances Fisher, John Leguizamo, and Josh Lucas as the prosecuting attorney who gives McConaughey some competition in the chiseled-looks department. --Bret Fetzer Review: One of McConaugheys best - This is one of those films that shouldnt work (if you have read the book) yet holds it own because of all the actors and the way it is brought together. This is a movie that you can easily watch without reading the books, and really enjoy it. Matthew McConaughey makes the role & character his and shows off why he is such an amazing actor when given a story & script to push him. A really good thriller & all round movie. One of my go to films to watch since it came out. Review: Lincoln lawyer well worth watching - Fantastic

A Satisfyingly Complex Drama, with a Dominant Lead Performance, Presented Well on Blu-Ray
Whilst this film, based on a novel written in 2005, doesn't really break any new ground in terms of plot it does have a major redeeming feature courtesy of the dominant presence of the usually excellent Matthew McConaughey. On Blu-ray everything looks and sounds as good as you would expect of a modern release, but since it is largely set in buildings, has a lot of dialogue and does not rely on special-effects etc I don't necessarily think that it is essential to watch it in HD. A further example is that whilst there is a fair smattering of prominent musical excerpts in the soundtrack, it being of the DTS Master Audio variety is a bit of overkill.... For me, the specifics of the plot bear a few similarities to the film 'Jagged Edge' (which pre-dates both the film and book), but the overall story elements of a 'rogue' lawyer (who has his office in a Lincoln limousine - hence the book/film title) and his various general exploits are interlaced sufficiently with the major plot thread of several suspicious murder cases to make the whole experience very satisfying. I can even forgive the rather clichéd aspect of the lawyer's life where he is divorced and his ex-wife is an 'opposing' prosecutor....! Aside from the presence of Matthew McConaughey (and a woefully underused Bryan Cranston) the other enjoyable aspects of the move are really due to the direction, since a lot of creativity is employed with the cinematography, zippy scenes and (hurray !) obvious minimal use of 'looping' for the actor's dialogue. That latter 'feature' may be one reason why others have criticised the sound, since many scenes are recorded 'warts and all' (ie real !) with voices projected distantly in large rooms, inside claustrophobic 'cubby-holes'/vehicles or from outside when the characters are inside rooms, all rather than being re-recorded with close-up microphones in a sound booth...... I don't think this kind of film really needs any disc extras, but for completeness there are 3 featurettes (making of, author and actor vs author) and some deleted scenes. I've attached a photo of the back of the disc box. So, good presentation, a novel central story theme, mostly novel plot lines and universally strong performances from cast/crew make this a worthwhile watch and something which will get repeat viewing every now and then.

Enjoyed The Book
I really enjoyed the book but the film was a little bit of a let down. Sometime the change from book to film doesn't always work out - couldn't really say why because Matthew McConaughey is a really good actor but didn't quite pull off how I envisioned his charactor to be. When you read a book your imagination puts in your mind how they should lokk, sound and how they behave as a charactor. When an actor takes that role they put their own spin on it and may come out different to how you imagined them to be. Visually the film didn't seem to interept the book - so I say buy the book and leave things to your own imagination whereas the film is just there in front of you if you don't want to tax your mind and want to while away a couple of hours.

“The Lincoln Lawyer” is a captivating legal thriller that keeps you engaged from start to finish. Matthew McConaughey delivers a compelling performance as Mick Haller, a defense attorney operating from the back of his Lincoln. The plot is well-crafted with unexpected twists, and the supporting cast, including Marisa Tomei and Ryan Phillippe, adds depth to the story. The bilingual DVD offers both English and French audio options, catering to a wider audience. Overall, it’s an entertaining film that combines suspense and drama effectively.
