As noted in other reviews, the fan runs continuously but is not very loud. I rather like the sound of the water occasionally trickling into the bucket.Emptying the bucket is easy. The unit automatically pauses and restarts when you remove and reinstall the bucket. The bucket is full, so be a little careful so you don't slosh when removing.Overall I'm quite pleased.I purchased this hygrometer and started measuring the humidity in my basement workshop.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013BKDO8Emptying the bucket once a day, the measured humidity has dropped from about 68% to about 54%. On the weekends the bucket fills up at least twice a a a day, which impressed me. The hot showers were causing lots of cleaning issues, as well as mold. Although it's a bit bulky, it sucks the bathroom DRY after their showers. It has digital features, including a timer, that they set to run for 2 hours after a shower. It also has an air cleaner built in.Since we started using it, our cleaning needs have dramatically declined and have had NO mold. Just have to be careful to shut the toilet lid when running so it doesn't suck water out of the toilet...Not that it's a big deal, but you want it to get the other water out first (shower & etc).Works so well, I got one for the parents bathroom as well.Tip...Don't try the mini or small dehumidifiers. Some claim they work, but I tried several different versions and the most they pulled from the air were a few tablespoons over a couple days. You need something that pulls decent air when trying to dry out a bathroom or any wet room for that matter.
