They're very sturdy when the reinforced base is in place and hold a lot of toys. We now have several of these storage cubes and use them for toys of differing sizes and weights without any issues.The animal designs are also lovely and whilst aimed at children, aren't too childish or themed, so won't need to be replaced for some time.One thing you do need to be careful of is the sizing. The storage cubes are larger than most others, so won't not fit in a lot of storage units.
