A: Yep. In that it charges by winding it. Also has a small solar panel.

**Q: how many years will the rechargable battery work before it stops working?**
A: I can't really say as I've only had mine since last February. It does get used several times during the night most nights and is going strong so far.

Loved this torch straight away! Not too big and not too small, a nice bright colour, so it doesn't get lost easily. The light it gives is very bright, and after leaving it in the sun for about an hour it went on shining for several hours! You can either wind it by hand or let the sun charge it up. Either way, it works fine.
