They are made to go against a flat surface which of course the beehive isn't! Thanks** A: Hello The connecting kit I bought had a rubber washer that fitted inside on the connecting hose that was mounted from the inside, which is flat, the fixing nut is on the outside of the barrel which when tightened secures the connector and washer which remains flat, the nut is between ridges and not level, this is not important as the secure watertight fitting is inside the water butt. hope this helps John **Q: Where does the tube connect to?
