Currently I have it unrolled and weighed down - if this isn't enough I will try the hot water method, but for the price I am happy - I needed something to protect the carpet in the kitchen area of my rented flat and this promises to do the job well enough and being clear is reasonably unobtrusive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Great. *by S***H on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 July 2013* Ordered this about a month ago, it arrived quickly (in a surprisingly large box) as it was tightly rolled I unrolled it and rolled it back on itself as tight as I could (it has sharpish nodules on the reverse to grip carpet) laid it out flat on kitchen floor, it did have a strong smell, opened the window. After a day it went into my hall, i decided against cutting it to fit and positioned it under the edge of my unit which certainly helps it stay in place well. After a week the smell had gone.
