Is this smooth and forms a tip when pulled apart or does it look like ripped paper when apart?** A: It is a cold porcelain air drying clay. Cold porcelain is something you can make for yourself and it uses cornflower, some kind of oil - baby oil or vegetable oil - PVA Glue and water. Some people put some herbal preservative in (like nutmeg or something.) It is similar to use as polymer clay except that it is air drying rather than needing to be dried in an oven. It does not dry completely like the plastic type polymer clay, but rather like a porcelain type texture. This is white. To colour it you can use food colouring - only use it sparingly, a little goes a very long way. Paprika food colouring is great for skin tones, although it is very orange so use it sparingly - mix a very small amount into a little ball of clay and then mix that clay ball with the rest of your clay. I find the air drying cold porcelain clays difficult to model with, although that is probably due to my own faults rather than any of the products I have tried. I find that they crack a lot. Using water or oil will help to soften crumbly, dry clay. I used it with children between age 3 and 11 and all found it easy to manipulate into shape. It did take longer to dry than stated but that might just be the temperature of my classroom. A ziplock packaging would be very useful to help with storage.
