Personally I would not want to cover up the overflow hole in a basin/sink as it is there for a very good reason. You could end up with a flooded bathroom or whichever room the basin is located. The cover in question does nor block the hole. It still allows for water to flow into the overflow. **Q: How long does the Chrome plating last before coming off? Has anyone used it for a long time? Mine discoloured only after 6 months.** A: I bought three and have had them in place for over a year. None of them show any sign of the chrome plating coming off. **Q: I have removed existing plug but need to cover the plug holder? Would this fit over the top, I need to cover it without removing holder.** A: Same as Ks reply. Fits very neatly over the overflow hole but mine is a built in plug too. I can’t believe your plug holder is that near the hole but they are very reasonably priced so worth a try. I have to use a dob of sealant to hold them in some of our holes because they aren’t a tight fit. **Q: does this block tge water from going down the overflow** A: No it allows water to flow down the overflow. The item is purely an embellishment if you have a basin or bidet that has just a hole for the overflow. It looks quite smart and fits into the overflow hole with plastic lugs. Just a word of warning as I found that upon removal for cleaning the lugs can slip off the unit and disappear back down the overflow. It took me ages to fish them out so I subsequently glued them onto the chromed front cover.
