## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do this gadget really change digital imput sound into T.V.? as I can hear analog sound, such as
comentory on Snooker as clear as a bell, but films?**
A: Every tv has some digital output and probably a analog one for head sets, i find that using a digital output and converting to analog outside the tv is the best way. Connected to a amplifier would improve any tv sound only depends the quality of the stereo. Don't spend more to connect a tv to a stereo.

**Q: can this be used to connect to an xbox one?and if so do you need extra cables?**
A: I haven't tried but, yes, should work with the optical digital out on XBox. You will need to buy an optical cable if you don't already have one. An alternative method, if your TV has regular audio outputs, is to connect the XBox to the TV via HDMI, which carries the stereo audio and video, then connect the TV to your HiFi amp. If this has issues with video/audio synchronisation, then the DAC is your best option.

**Q: I have connected samung blue ray dvd player through the converter to my amp but even on full the sound is very muted. What can I do to improve volume**
A: If you can hear the correct sound but it's very quiet then the DAC may be working but your amp is not be set to use the correct set of analogue inputs, or the DAC is not working at all and what you hear is leakage from the TV's audio output. If you don't hear anything, or you hear a horrible noise, then your Blu-Ray player might not be set to output stereo PCM audio (this DAC can't handle Dolby/multichannel signals). The optical input only works up to 96kHz sample rate so make sure your player isn't set to output more than this (i.e. 192kHz). Also, sometimes players' digital outputs aren't switched on by default and you need to find the menu option to enable them. If you're using an optical connection then you can point the end of the cable at your hand to see if there's any red light coming out of it (I don't recommend looking into the cable, although it's not so bright it would instantly blind you). The same sometimes applies to 5V power on the TV's USB connectors (may be off by default and need to be turned on). Check the optical/coax switch on the DAC is set to the right position for whichever digital input you're using (optical in this case). The DAC outputs a fairly high level signal (I have 20dB attenuators between it and my amp to reduce the level) so if you've checked all of these things then another possibility is that your DAC or amp is broken. If you connect the DAC to your TV's digital output, instead of the Blu-Ray player's, then you should automatically get the sound from whatever source you are viewing on the TV because most tellies will pass it through to their digital output (if they have one).

**Q: Do the TV's own speakers cut out when this unit is working and if so can they be switched back without unplugging the device.**
A: No - this unit takes the sound signal from the Optical outlet and converts it to analogue to enable you to play the sound via your Hi-Fi amplifier. The TV speakers still work normally, but you can take the volume down to zero and just listen via your decent Hi-Fi speakers. This eliminates any synchronisation errors when you take the sound from a Skybox etc. This unit is small and well made and worth every penny.
