When water flows down through the meter it will work, but accuracy will be reduced beyond the stated range. If you are using it with your outside tap we do offer a meter with male hose fittings. You could use that listing, along with some female hose fittings, to install the meter along a run of hose or at the end of the hose. **Q: The dial has white and red numbers. How does one read the meter ?** A: The red numbers are only decimal places of reading.
